Camp Barnhardt
Camp John J. Barnhardt
Description -- Camp Barnhardt is located on 1,000 acres of rolling, wooded hills on Badin Lake in the William C. Cannon Scout Reservation between Albemarle and Salisbury, N.C. The camp features 14 well spaced troop sites around an Olympic-sized, L-shaped swimming pool, two man-made lakes, a new dining hall, a chapel, a commissary, a health lodge, an ecology lodge, a rifle range, a shotgun range and an archery range, an outpost camp, a picnic area, a C.O.P.E. course and a rappelling tower. Montgomery Campfire Circle, a replica of a Seminole Indian enclosure designed after the nearby Town Creek Indian Mounds State Park, is the site of many good campfire programs and ceremonies. The Lone Scouts, which is a division of the Boy Scouts of America that made it possible for "any boy anywhere to become a Scout" selected Camp Barnhardt as the home of its National Museum and Memory Lodge.
Camp address -- Highway 52, New London, NC
Camp telephone -- (704) 633-5231

Oregon Trail
Here is some great information about the Oregon Trail. We are reading (listening) to Little House on the Prairie and it gives us a little insight into the life on the Prairie. It leaves off with settling in Kansas and this website gives information about crossing the mountains and the hardships that were faced.

Progress Reports
It is hard to believe that we are half way through the 3rd marking period. We will be sending home Progress reports with students tomorrow (Friday 2-26) as long as everything goes ok with the printing. We have had a little trouble with the system the last two days so we are hoping that it will be up and running to print our reports.
AR Update!
We are finally in full swing with AR. It took 5th grade awhile to get their feet wet and understand that just checking out the book and carrying it around does not earn AR points. You need to actually read the book and take a test :) hahhahahaha!! Please look for new AR goals to come home and a tracking sheet so students can keep track of tests that they have taken.

Happy Thanksgiving Fifth Graders!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Hey out there!
Today is Thanksgiving and I hope that all of our students are either in their pajamas watching the Macy's Parade or on the way to Grandmas house :) Please enjoy your short vacation. When we come back to school on Monday there will be several changes occuring. Remember your in between class time is going to be lowered to 4 minutes and you need to be completely prepared for classes so you don't get an infraction!!! This does not apply to 98% of you so don't worry :) Enjoy your break and rest your brain, we are starting two new novels on Monday!!!!!
